Drawing of the Week!!!

Hello again, here is the most recent of my paintings. Like I said in the previous Drawing of the Week, I haven't really painted, that is not my strong point. But I have to keep trying if I want to work for Marvel one day. So here is a painting I recently did for my fathers birthday. I actually found a August 1954 Sub-Mariner cover by the great Bill Everett, which was perfect because that was my dads birth date. This took me three days, when it should have just taken me 3 hours considering that I just spent an hour a day.

I started off with the light sky blue for the ocean, followed by the body outline. Once I finished with that, I did the title. As you can notice, I screwed up the title.

The Next day I added the submarine, some sort of sea monster, and added underwear to the Prince. I was missing some supplies so I couldn't sinish that day.

(Im sorry for the quality of the picture) The Last day, I finally got the supplies that I need so I did what I had to inorder to finish. I added the outlines, some shading and lots and lots of bubbles. I was very satisfied with the final product and so was my dad. The Left one is mine and the right one is Bill Everett's cover. Now I came as close as I could to Everett's cover, one day, hopefully soon, I'll be able to make paintings that are perfect. Until then, I'll keep practicing.

What is the big hype with Silly Bandz?

OK so, i am sure you all have heard about sill bandz. You know the rubber bands that are made into different types of shapes. Well frankly I can care less if little kids wear them, when I was little I anything that was hip at the moment. I can't believe i just wrote hip, I'm starting to feel old, well anyway there is no problem for kids to wear them but if someone that is at least 18 years or older wears them, then there is a problem.

I personally think these bandz are dumb, but that's because I have become a grumpy old man. I am sorry but it really bothers me if a 18 year guy or girl are wearing them. A big question just forms in my head; What is the big hype with silly bandz? and Why are people my age responding to this by wasting money on colorful rubber bands?
Have these people devolved? I mean seriously they are only rubber bands. While hanging out with my girlfriend and her friend, Tracey, she told us that another friend of hers which i believe is our age had them and was trading as if they were baseball cards or something. Sara, my girlfriends sister, told us that she finds it hot when a guy wears it. Sara is 19 and she is one of the smartest girls I know, and even she is under the spell of silly bandz.

Now even DC and Marvel comics are joining in the fun. Both have released silly bandz. DC has there women superheros, Justice League, Batman, and Superman bandz. While Marvel has there Wolverine, Iron Man, Avengers, Spider-Man, and Villains bandz. Although I am a huge fan of Wolverine, and admit that the designs are pretty cool, you will never see me walking around. From now on if we see anyone of the age of 18 years or older, I believe it's our duty as citizens of this world to smack them across there heads and just confiscate there silly bandz. Because the only thing that look silly aren't the bandz, its the people who are wearing them.

Drawing of the Week!!!

Here is another edition of Drawing of the Week!

This week i chose a small painting of mine. So instead of Drawing of the week i should call it Painting of the Week! Well any who, the painting you are about to see is an image of Cyclops from the X-men. Now that was my first ever try to making a painting of a superhero and of course I am gonna keep trying. Well let me stop rambling on and show the damn thing. I hope you enjoy my painting!

Cover Of The Week!

Hey there I've been away for a little while now because I went to Las Vegas, then after that just been trying to reestablish life in New York. (I was only gone for a week, LOL)

Any how this weeks Cover Of The Week! has to be Joe Quesadas variant cover for Amazing Spider-Man #639. I have said it before and i will say it again, Joe Quesada is by far one of my favorite and one of the all time best artists of my generation.
This cover delivers so much pain and frustration from Mary Jane, it is just mind lowing. I love the newspapers from the Daily Bugle creating a sort of spiral around her. Also what is on the papers could be a factor to Mary Jane's frustration. The Background colors are perfect, they are bright but not bright enough to lose focus on the her. The hair in her face cause more of an effect of wind, which is causing the papers to swirl like a whirlpool, and demonstrates the agony that she is feeling. And of course Quesadas logo on the newspaper. He has one of those interesting signatures that are really cool to look for in cover work.

Thor!

I am sure by now most of you have seen the picture of Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

Well Marvel has released a new official image of the trio Thor, Odin, and Loki. I have to say Anthony Hopkins is Odin, he looks perfect for the part, and I am damn sure he is going to truly deliver like he always does in his films. Tom Hiddleston looks also perfect as Loki, he looks so sinister, only thing missing is his famous horn helmet which I am sure they have it somewhere along side Thor's helmet.
Thor comes to theaters May 6, 2011, that's only 10 months away. I am pretty sure they will have some sort of teaser trailer next weekend in the San Diego Comic-Con, which unfortunately I will not be attending. But I am sure I will hear about it and post it up right away.

Drawing of the Week!!!

Here is another edition of Drawing of the Week!

The drawing that I chose is one of my favorites drawings. Its Spider-Man, I forget who the original artist is, i think it was Alex Ross. Well anyway, the first time i saw it I just had to draw it. This is one of the few that was a challenge, the reason why it is one of my favorites. Well here it is.

The picture is a little fuzzy but it will do. I hope you enjoy it.
